Extension

Also known as: Full Extension

An extension is an advanced, two-legged stunt where the bases drive the flyer completely overhead until their arms are fully locked out. It represents maximum height for a standard two-legged stunt and requires flawless synchronization and stability from the entire group.

Safety first. Cheerleading skills carry real risk of injury. Train only with a qualified coach, use proper spotting and matting, and never attempt a skill unsupervised or before you are ready. This page is a reference, not coaching.

Technique

The Flyer: Must maintain an ultra-tight, completely rigid "hollow body" position, locking out their own knees and squeezing their core to prevent the slightest wobble at peak height.

The Bases: Drive powerfully through their legs and push the flyer's feet straight up, fully locking out their elbows overhead while keeping their arms aligned with their shoulders.

The Backspot: Pulls up aggressively on the flyer's ankles or calves to take maximum weight off the bases and bridges the gap to keep the stunt stable.

Safety notes

The stunt group must stay directly underneath the flyer and be prepared to immediately step in and catch the flyer's upper body if the stunt collapses.
