Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect as little as possible, profiles are pseudonymous by default, and we never sell your data.

What we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run the service:
- Your email address — used for sign-in and essential service messages only. It is never shown publicly.
- A pseudonymous username — assigned automatically at sign-up (e.g. athlete_x7k2pd); you can change it in your account settings.
- Content you contribute — skill pages, edits, notes, and video links, together with the account that submitted them.
- Skill tracking — if you mark skills as learning or mastered, that list is private by default.
We do not collect real names, dates of birth (beyond an optional birth year), addresses, or payment details, and we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies & sessions
We use a single first-party cookie, and it is strictly functional: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. Sessions are stored in our database and expire automatically.
There are no analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies.
Safeguarding minors
Cheerleading is a youth-heavy sport, so this is a priority. We do not display real names or locations on public profiles. Accounts flagged as under 18 stay private with reduced information. We do not use behavioural ad targeting of minors — or of anyone else.
Third-party content
Skill pages can embed demonstration videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and TikTok. When you view a page with an embedded player, that platform may set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. We do not control those platforms; if you prefer, you can browse CheerLibrary without playing embedded videos.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time; we will remove your email and profile information. Contributions you made under the Contributor License Agreement may remain part of the library, attributed to your (deleted) pseudonymous handle, so that skill pages stay intact for the community.
Your choices
- Keep your profile private (the default) or make it public.
- Change your pseudonymous username at any time.
- Request a copy or deletion of your personal data.
